Chaotic Goddess' Favorite Color Reveal!

Any of you regular readers know I love a good blog swap.  They're just so fun- you can meet new bloggers, pick out some goodies for them, and then see what they picked for you.  This is my third time doing Chaotic Goddess' Favorite color swap.  The first year I got an awesome purple themed package from Cindy at A Crafter's Corner and last year I got a great yellow package from Ashley at A Cute Angel and this year I was paired with Kenzie from Chasing my Extraordinary.

I've finally decided that yellow is really by favorite color (and it's hers too- great minds think alike).  And Kenzie did it up big!  Want to see?

She spoiled me!  And my picture doesn't really do a good job showing all the awesomeness but here's what she sent.
  • A box of Lipton Chai Tea (one of my favorites)
  • A box of Lipon Peppermint Tea (another of my favorites)
  • A bag of Ghiraelli Carmel Squares (I love good chocolate!)
  • Some Metallic Jewelry Tattoos (pretty fun for summer)
  • Some yellow polka dot ribbon (great for crafty projects)
  • Nail polish in both bright yellow and metallic gold (love both!)
  • An awesome pin cushion and holder in rainbow of colors- including yellow (perfect for me, because when you have curious cats, you have to stash your pins somewhere they can't get into when the pins are not in use)
  • And the thing that made me laugh out loud- a copy of Janet Evanovich's Wicked Appetite with it's own handmade dust jacket so that it fits the yellow theme (I love a good mystery, but have never read any of Janet's books.  She comes highly recommended from Kenzie.)
  • Oh!  And not pictured is the cutest Ipsy makeup bag ever.  It's square, zips, and is made with rattan and ribbons.   I use it to hold my headphones and sunglasses inside my bag, and forgot to take it out to photograph it. :)
I loved everything she chose and just for reference, there's a begonia flower next to the ribbon that is kind of my favorite yellow shade.  You can see Kenzie was right on the mark.  Her blog is pretty awesome, so you should really go check her out.

And, don't forgot to go to Chaotic Goddess' blog and see what everyone else got, including what I picked for Kenzie.  Her post is already up.

What's Your Favorite Color?

For years I never really had a favorite color.  I mean, there were colors I didn't like, and colors I liked, but no stand out as a favorite.  When I started blogging, I stumbled across Chaotic Goddess Swaps and I believe the second swap I participated in, was the Favorite Color swap.  I didn't really have a favorite, so I just chose eggplant.  It's a color I like.  The next year, I spent more time thinking about it and chose yellow.  Not fluorescent yellow, just bright yellow.  And now that the Favorite Color swap is rolling up again, I think I've finally decided on my favorite.  Yellow.  I want to be all "Kaylee loves yellow.  Yellow, yellow, yellow!" But anyways...

And if you aren't convinced yellow is awesome, just take a look at Van Gogh's use of yellow.

So what's the swap entail?  You get assigned a swap partner, and then make them a little goodie package of items in their favorite color.  You send at least five items, and the spending limit is $20-$30.

And... if you want to join in the swap, hurry because sign ups close today.

Favorite Color Reveal from A Cute Angel

So the favorite color swap has happened!  I shipped my packaged off to Ashely at A Cute Angel and that same day, my package from her arrived.  I love swaps.  The whole process of finding things you think your partner will like, and then seeing what they picked for you.  It's just too fun!

Want to see what I got?  Of course you do!

Yellow dreaminess!
I told Ashley I liked pretty much anything with caramel in it, and she found these Milky Way Simply caramel bites which were delicious!

Watering can and flower seeds!
She also sent me a new watering can, which is awesome!  I love the long, skinny spout.  It's perfect for watering seedlings.  She also sent an assortment of yellow seeds- sunflowers, alyssum, marigolds, and shasta daisies.  Love, love, love!

Dish towel and hot mitt!
I love dishtowels and this one is super cute.  It's got little strands of red and orange in it.  The mitt is nice and heavy.  (Nothing worse in the kitchen than an oven mitt that is too thin!)  I even threw out an old one that was all ripped along the side and stained, since I have a new one now.  :)

Lemon Verbena Shower Gel
I love shower gels and body washes that come in unusual scents.  It's not every day you find some lemon verbena scented gel.  But this one smells yummy and invigorating.  Maybe if I use it in the shower on the days I work day shift,  it will wake me up.

A Treat for the Two Brat Cats.
We both have pets.  Ashley has a dog named Scout, and I have my two cats, Honey Badger and Gargoyle.  So, Ashley even sent a treat along for the cats.  And surprisingly, they both love them!  Usually one cat likes the treats and the other doesn't, but apparently they're both fond of salmon.

Gargoyle, the official box inspector.
Everything arrived nicely wrapped with yellow tissue paper, and as soon as I had everything unpacked, the cats had to check it out.  Here's  a rare appearance by Gargoyle looking annoyed at having her picture taken.

So, I loved everything Ashley sent to me.  She did a great job finding yellow things that were just the right sunny shade.  You should really check out her blog, if you don't read it already.  She talks about all sorts of things- from cooking and baking, to fashion, to books and she's just so friendly.  You'll love her.

And if you're a blogger and want to join up on the next Chaotic Goddess swap, just go to their site to see what's coming up!

Pocket Full of Sunshine- Chaotic Goddess Swap Sign Up

So you guys all know how much I love Chaotic Goddess' swaps, right?  I think I've participated in like five of them already.  So, when the favorite color swap came back around, of course I had to sign up.

I played last year and was partnered with the awesome Cindy from A Crafter's Corner and she put together a great box for me of things in lovely eggplant colors.

But here's a confession, I don't really have a favorite color.  They kind of change with the seasons and the purpose.  I like certain colors to wear, certain colors to paint rooms, pops of colors here and there.  I really do like eggplant, but this time around I decided to spice it up.  Maybe it's because it's spring and I'm looking forward to daffodils, maybe it's just that I'm tired of dark winter shades.  But, when it was time to list my favorite color, I picked yellow.

Here's some yellow stuff I'm loving.  So bright and warm.  How can you be cranky or depressed when looking at a color that just giggles happiness and sunshine?  So what do you think?  Is yellow a good choice?

And if you're a blogger and want to sign up for the swap, go to Chaotic Goddess and sign up!

Favorite Color Swap Show Off!

I told you yesterday that my swap partner's box had arrived.  Let me tell you a little more about my swap partner before I show you all the treasures that were in inside. My partner was Cindy from A Crafter's Corner.  She blogs about stamping and scrapbook and just life in general.  You should check her out.  We exchanged an email kind of detailing what our hobbies were, what we do for a living, etc.

And when, I got my box, I was totally impressed.  She did awesome finding things that were me!  I loved everything.  Here's a picture.

Favorite Color Swap

She sent this super cute card.  She's definitely a crafty chic.  And then all these goodies.

Project Life kit for seasons.
I told her how I was trying to use Project Life to be better about scrapbooking my photos so she sent this super cute kit.  They don't make one in eggplant, or purple, but this will be uber practical and I love the patterns.

Puzzle
I love these little puzzles!  They make a square but you don't know which pieces are edges and you just try to match up the bugs on all sides.  It's kind of like picture sudoku.

Picture Holder
A cute purple flower for my desk to hold a note or picture.  (See the alligator clip at the top that's holding a post it?)

Butterfly Plant Poke
A cute butterfly plant poke that HB loved.  I couldn't even get a a clear photo of it because he kept trying to attack it.

Cat Food Dish
Super cute cat dish!  I think I had some fabric with the same print on it about two years ago!  I loved it.  HB keeps sticking his head in the bowl like he knows there should be food in it.

Embroidery Scissors
These are going to be super handy, because I have a tendency to use my fabric scissors to snip threads.  Not a good way to keep them sharp.  These are smaller and much better for the job.  Plus they're sharp.

Wild Berry Cobbler Candle
I love candles, and this one smells super nice.  Food scented ones are always a hit at my house.

Jelly Roll
Absolutely gorgeous jelly roll.  (I unwound it so you can get a better peek at the prints.  I have never had a jelly roll before so I'm excited to make something out of it.  Maybe something in a log cabin or ruffles!  Not sure yet.

And... one last thing.  I didn't even get to photograph it before somebody had hauled it away.

Caught in the Act

It's a hit!

He loves the little eggplant colored, catnip filled bird.  It has real feather wings and he likes to rub them on his face.  He's a weirdo.  But a happy one at least.

So, I'd like to thank Cindy for all the awesomeness and for making my weird cat happy!  She's pretty great!

Another Chaotic Goddess Swap!

I just finished the local flavors swap, but I had so much fun, I couldn't wait to get a chance to do it again.  So, when I saw that Chaotic Goddess was already signing up for another one, I signed up.

It's pretty straight forward:

Favorite Color Swap Rules
  • Packages must contain at least 5 items in your partner's favorite color.
  • Packages must cost a minimum of $15 and maximum of $25 BEFORE shipping.
  • Send a package that you, yourself, would like to receive- it should be personalized to fit your partner's preferences and style.
  • You must respond to emails from the swap hosts within a timely fashion.
  • You MUST post and link up your swap reveal post after receiving your package. This is non-negotiable.

So, I don't have a FAVORITE color.  But I took a look around and realized I have a lot of things that are eggplant and deep purple- even my blog background is kind of eggplant.  I think I like it because it's feminine, but not pink and girly.  Plus, it's a deep, rich color and  clothes in that color go good with my pale skin and dark hair.

Eggplant colors
Who knew there was so many shades of eggplant?  Pinterest did.  The fourth one is probably my favorite (although I think they're all eggplant).  I have a cute jacket in the same color as the fourth one that I just loved.  Unfortunately, I machine washed and dried it even though is said dry clean only.  Now the lining is slightly longer than the jacket. but I have been unable to part with it yet.  It hangs in my closet in my sewing room.   I keep hoping I'll come up with a plan to salvage it.

So if you blog, join up  and have some fun.  Signups end Saturday!
