Musical Monday- Make You Better by The Decemberists

I love The Decemberists.  They can sing a story like no one else.  And today just feels like a day to listen to their whole catalog.  It's about 40 but overcast.  Typical Wisconsin spring day.  I almost chose "O Valencia" for my Musical Monday pick, but decided to go with one of their newer songs instead.  Here it is:


"Make You Better" is from their latest album "What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World".  (Which just fyi, I think that album title could be pretty much sum up how I feel about life in one sentence.)

First of all, Nick Offerman is just awesome!  He's hilarious and he just feels like you could hang out with him and have a great time.  He's great in this video.  Second of all, I think this song is a pretty good description of life after you've been with someone long enough that you just kind of settle into this routine.  It's not a bad thing, it's just a thing.  I remember when my husband and I were dating, I wouldn't be caught dead without makeup on.  Now, a lot of times, he comes home on my day off and I'm in sweats with my hair smushed back in a headband and not a drop of makeup to be found.  You just kind of get comfortable with each other.  But, hopefully in the long run, your spouse "Makes You Butter" and you make them "butter".
